GIVING

TAKE ACTION. GIVE TO THE ASSAULT ON ALZHEIMER’S

The University of Pittsburgh ASSAULT ON ALZHEIMER’S program was conceived from the realization that a new approach is needed to fully exploit the unprecedented opportunities to treat, cure or hopefully prevent this heartbreaking disease. Our talented scientists aim to transform the research landscape in two ways: by providing new tools for scientific discovery and by developing new collaborative approaches to achieve our ambitious mission.

By making a cash gift by check, credit card or setting up an automatic transfer from your bank account today, you empower our talented scientists to think outside the box to get to the root of the problem. This is the only way to ensure the successful translation from bench to bedside for generations to come. You will have the opportunity to see your generosity in action and will also receive a federal income tax charitable deduction.

You might also consider leaving a legacy gift to honor a loved one who struggles with dementia. An endowment gift to the ASSAULT ON ALZHEIMER’S program provides a brighter picture for our future. You can contribute cash, appreciated securities or real estate to support life changing research far into the future. Let us help you choose the right vehicle for your circumstances. To request a free, confidential, and personalized proposal of tax-advantaged giving options, please contact: Sharon Perelman, JD, Chief Strategy Officer at sperelman@pitt.edu or 412-445-9400.

OUR MISSION

That determined spirit led Jonas Salk and his team to devise the first polio vaccine, preventing countless millions worldwide from getting the disabling and deadly infection. Our Alzheimer’s research also aims to prevent Alzheimer’s before it starts stealing memories, and to stop its progression among those who are already affected.

OUR FIGHT

Alzheimer’s disease is the urgent health challenge of our times. Unlike cancer and heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease is the only top cause of death with no therapy to stop or slow it. That’s why we launched the Assault on Alzheimer’s program. Every dollar raised supports scientists who are committed to finding out the why’s and how’s of this devastating disease.

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE.

“If we are going to conquer our fear of those two words—
If we are going to conquer Alzheimer’s disease—
We need to understand the nature of the disease that we face and design our attack in the most strategic way possible.”

–Karl Herrup, Professor of Neurobiology, University of Pittsburgh
